SYNOPSIS

It is Christmas time. Years have passed since the deadly tsunami hit the Tamil coastal area. This is the story of a fisherman named Maayan. The sudden death of this mother, which he cannot come to terms with, has fractured his traditional bonds to the village and authority, and distanced him further from a society where he has struggled to find acceptance.
He refuses to follow the traditional Hindu customs after her death and chooses a path quite opposed to what his mother had wished for him; one which finds him wandering aimlessly through daily routines and tempted by vices. Nothing in life interests him until…
Two people, a young foreign tourist spending the holidays with her Indian boyfriend in a beach resort and a local police officer, each struggling with their own deeply personal issues, enter the scene and become inextricably linked to the destructive path which is Maayan’s destiny.
In a documentary style, which captures the rich Tamil culture and traditions, the film explores the psychological depths of Maayan’s grief and how society punishes those who dare to challenge centuries-old customs.
