ImagineIndia screens year after year the best indian films, be those big productions or smaller ones, commercial or art films. For these to be posible it,s compulsary to attend the many films festivals taking place in India, mainly from November to January, to contact with the many institutions related to cinema, unversities or others. This way we can relate to newcomers trying to get breakthrough in the film world, who are eager to know about the opinions coming from Europe on them, on their works etc... This way we have selected 37 indian films which will be participating in this edition of ImagineIndia.
The film Black Pamphlet of Nitin K (student) will be screened at Casa Asia. CHAURAHEN, first film of Rajshree Ojha will be at the Closing Ceremony.
We are not a festival as usual. We dont compete with the exclusivity of the screenning. On the contrary, ImagineIndia wants to all types of good films although their participation in other festivals. Our main goal is to show the films.
37 films containing the Indian Section means it,s our main section of the festival where to mention the Competitive Section, Retrospectives of Mani Kaul and Buddhadeb Dasgupta.
If one wants to know about past times of Indian film industry only have to view the Classic Section, with films coming from the 60,s.
Mention apart is the Documentary Section where we pay homage to R.D.Burman, composer of so many films at that time. He was the Bollywood king however he died lonely.
Many of the films are directed by womens which is the main theme on this edition of our festival. Reema Kagti, Bhavna Talwar, Rajshree Ojha, Nasreen Kabir, Samina Mishra, Shabana Azmi, Sharmila Tagore, Aruna Vasudev are all women who give a different vision of India, country which in the european imaginary still is full of topics today widely surpassed.
